Houses encourage teamwork and collaboration, providing an opportunity for students to develop friendships outside of their class and their year groups and a place to shine. They ignite a passion for healthy competition whilst creating a strong sense of belonging and community between our students and our staff. All our students are allocated to a House with those from other year groups. Siblings will be part of the same House, to ensure that these bonds are strengthened.
Our House structure is the foundation of our positive reward system and allows students to form bonds across the different year groups and phases. By creating smaller, more connected communities within the broader school community, students have a built-in place where they belong. Academic houses do not merely encourage inclusion, they rely on it; working together to gain house points means that students must recognise and encourage each member’s talents and abilities.
Older students assume positions of responsibility and act as role models for the younger ones, leading them in creative, charitable and community projects, inter-House sporting fixtures and other competitions. The varied and exciting Hartland House events help children and teenagers learn how to work with others, improve collaboration skills and foster positive social behaviour with older and younger peers. House points are awarded for special achievements, excellent progress, hard work and for acts of kindness. The individual students and Houses with the most points are celebrated in assemblies at the end of term and at the end of the school year.
Our current House names are based on four of the parks within Dubai:
