Hartland is first and foremost a community; a family where every member is known and supported as an individual to achieve everything they are capable of, and empowered with the confidence to unlock potential they did not even know they had.

A student at Hartland will find that they are supported not only by their class teachers during lessons but also by highly trained and exceptionally dedicated pastoral staff, who are well placed to nurture and guide students towards healthy emotional development that underpins academic resilience. There is a strong feeling of belonging within our student body which we are incredibly proud of. This safe and nurturing environment enables everyone in our community to interact in a positive, meaningful, respectful, and empathetic way.

Parents will find that their role in our school community is both valued and respected and the link between home and school is not something we take for granted. Form Tutors in the secondary school and Classroom Teachers in the Primary phase work closely with parents, alongside Heads of Year, two fully trained school counsellors, onsite medical professionals, our outstanding inclusion and support staff and the Senior Leadership Team to help every child develop their talents, at whatever level they are capable and comfortable.

We have found that enabling students to have a voice and see themselves as active participants within their learning journey and wider school life has a direct and tangible connection with their sense of wellbeing. The Hartland Student Council is made up of students representing every phase and every year group of the school. They meet regularly with the Student Leadership Team chaired by our Head Boy and Head Girl and are a fundamental part of driving change and development across the school.

At Hartland International School we recognise that each student comes with a story, and our goal is to support students through personalised learning, underpinned by high expectations, within a kind and welcoming community. This is what we have come to know and love as: ‘The Hartland Way’.
